The COVID 19 pandemic substantially changed the method of delivery, but not the subjects of the Christian Education Ministry. The “Read The Bible with Me” course is a new and year-long endeavor to read the entire Bible. Live Zoom conversations on Tuesday mornings and visuals make this a popular class. Anyone can join anytime.
Vacation Bible School was held in a 2020 way. Grades K-5 were given a Bethel Woods Camp in a box. Grades 6-12 met in person, following COVID 19 guidelines, at the Camp with counselors who led activities, such as lessons, songs, outside games, and arts and crafts.
Mother’s Day Out (MDO) is available for children 2-3 years’ old on Wednesday mornings. Children have story time, music, and playtime for two hours. MDO is currently suspended due to the pandemic.
Children’s Church for Grades 1-4 after the minister’s Children Sermon in the service, involves a Bible lesson, crafts and games. Youth Group for Grades 5-12 meets the first and third Sunday for a lesson, crafts, or other activities such as bowling, escape rooms, or volunteering at animal shelters. Currently, they are meeting on ZOOM or in person with social distancing.
At Easter we have an “Eggtravaganza” on the church’s front lawn where there is an Easter Egg hunt. Families are also given lessons, activities, and crafts they can do with their children. We plan to have Advent and Lenten extravaganzas soon.
There are a Women’s Bible Study on the Book of James, an Adult Sunday School Class, and a Coffee and Conversation. All are currently meeting on ZOOM.
Finally, due to current events and encouragement from our Presbytery, we are offering a systemic racism library, which includes books to check out and online links to study.
