The Mission Team presents opportunities for the congregation to actively participate in a wide range of mission activities showing their response to God’s love by using their time, talents and treasures to help others. Recent additions to the mission at Faith included a Blood Drive held at Faith to help with the severe shortage of blood due to the pandemic. Also, the “Little Food Pantry” was erected in our parking lot. The pantry contains self serve non-perishable items to make a meal for anyone in need.
Second Harvest periodically sends a truck loaded with tons of food that volunteers quickly organize and ultimately fill several grocery bags for each family in need. Faith Church found a way to continue this vital program even during the pandemic. Over a 150 families were helped each time. In addition, when allowed, Faith Church volunteers travel to Charlotte on a monthly basis to pack pallets of “senior boxes” for distribution by Second Harvest.
The congregation supports “Dimes for Hunger”, a program by the Providence Presbytery that uses 50% of the funds locally and 50% internationally. This special offering is taken on the 5th Sunday as they occur. Other programs supported include the “Angel Tree” providing basic items of clothing for local school children identified as in need. Members heartily support “Operation Christmas Child”, a program of Samaritan’s Purse. A shoe box is packed with items to provide children in over 100 countries a gift and hear about about the love of Jesus. Faith Church also supports the Lancaster Children’s Home with money to be used as appropriate. The Women’s Enrichment Center of Lancaster, a non-profit, is supported as they provide vital resources for young women and their families. Faith Presbyterian is a small church but the congregation always responds in a big way regarding mission.
