The Worship Ministry encompasses a number of activities. Church members function as ushers and greeters to welcome people to Faith. When someone joins the church, they are given New Member packets containing church information as well as small Chrismon crosses. In the church, there are Fellowship pads to track attendance. Monthly, a Committee member sets up Communion elements for the service, and Committee members work with the minister to produce service bulletins. There is live streaming of Sunday’s service on the Internet.
New activities include Blessing of the Animals in October and a Lay Readers Program where congregational members read the Old and New Testament scriptures in the service. Handbells were recently purchased, and two choirs provide music in the service.
A group beautifies the Sanctuary and Gathering Hall, decorating with colors and items relevant to the season. The newly formed Chrismon team makes Chrismons to honor milestone anniversaries, births, as well as remembering members who are critically ill and those who have moved away. Chrismons are made to adorn the Christmas trees in the Sanctuary for Advent, and a Chrismon worship service was created.
Finally, an alliance was formed between Faith and nearby Gold Hill AME Zion Church. Members from each church have attended the other church’s services. We look forward to future joint activities.
